JG Enforcement provides lawful support services for the assessment, detention, removal, and resolution of horses and ponies that have been abandoned, fly-grazed, or otherwise unlawfully placed on land, in accordance with Section 7 of the Control of Horses Act 2015 and associated legal provisions.
Assessment
Upon instruction, an initial assessment is carried out to establish:
Whether horses or ponies are present without lawful authority
The condition, number, and immediate welfare considerations
The status of the land and the instructing party’s authority to act
This assessment informs the appropriate and lawful course of action under the legislation.

Detention & Removal
Where the statutory conditions are satisfied, JG Enforcement can detain and arrange for the lawful removal of horses or ponies from the land. Detention and removal are conducted in accordance with the Act, ensuring actions are proportionate, documented, and compliant with legal requirements.
Care & Welfare
Following removal, reasonable steps are taken to ensure that appropriate care arrangements are in place during the detention period, having regard to animal welfare obligations. All actions are managed responsibly and in line with recognised standards.
Final Resolution
If horses or ponies are not lawfully reclaimed within the prescribed period, JG Enforcement can assist with the final resolution process, which may include lawful disposal or rehoming, as permitted by legislation. All outcomes are managed in accordance with statutory powers and procedural safeguards.
Authority & Compliance
All instructions are accepted on the basis that the instructing party confirms their legal authority to act, and that action may be taken in line with Section 7 of the Control of Horses Act 2015, relevant animal welfare legislation, and recognised enforcement practice.
